Giselle Ki Kahani is a story of
a young girl whose dreams are
shattered, as she is humiliated.
She is perceived to go mad and
ultimately dies, only to wake up
in a realm beyond life where she
witnesses justice, and learns
to move on.
Inspired by the Western
classical ballet 'Giselle', this
puppet ballet performance places
the story in an Indian setting.
While the story of the classical
ballet is maintained, the
characters, emotions and
concepts of innocence, love,
betrayal, humiliation, insanity,
death and justice are
in resonance with our reality
today.
30 life sized puppets, various
objects, a puppeteer and a
dancer communicate the story
using contemporary puppetry and
contemporary dance.
